The horror on the faces of those children. It shows the true face of contraception.

What a critique of the decline of the conscience of Modern Man.

This is the most appalling thing I have ever seen. Are we truely content in being this selfish that we can make fun of it? Every parent who sees this add should be discusted and never use birth control again. This add makes it blatently obvious that in using birth control, we are snuffing out life. But who gives a crap, right? As long as we can have our lustful fun, wallowing like pigs in our own selfishness, it's all ok. I need to go barf.

" Every parent who sees this add should be discusted and never use birth control again. This add makes it blatently obvious that in using birth control, we are snuffing out life. But who gives a crap, right? " i think it's IRRESPONSIBLE not to use birth control. even if you're married...1)kids need care and love. when u have 8 or 9 kids some of them are bound to feel left out 2)have u any idea how much money it takes to raise a child? not evrybody can afford it. they need good education and so on. so what's your suggestion? never to have sex?

Anonymous said...

What kind of parent allows their children to be subjects for this type of horrific advertising?

Anonymous said...

Sorry guys, but I don't hear my semen screaming or giggling whatsoever so keep your integrists remarks for your cult or church. You completely miss the point of the ads in turning it into some abortion bullshiat. Truth is, people are still going to screw whether you like it or not because it's in our nature. Using condoms prevents the need for painful abortions. You nuts should be happy about it.

Anonymous said...

How stupid. Contraception is a GOOD thing.

We don't need to bring any more children into this world.

Anonymous said...

What a bunch of idiots.

You're not killing people. You're killing sperm which is no more "alive" than cutting off your own fingernail. Actually, less so, because your fingernail has 46 chromosomes and could theoretically be used to clone a new person. A sperm cell only carried 23 chromosomes... not even enough to make a clone. You're killing 23 chromosomes packed in a delivery vehicle. Nothing more.

Heck, if killing sperm is wrong..... why did God (or whatever you believe) install automatic ejaculation systems into Male bodies? You look confused. Well basically, the male body self-masturbates itself (if you have not done it) to eject the old sperm, old fluids, and make room for new ones. This happens every 1-2 weeks.

So if God thought it was "murder" to kill sperm, why did he include this autonomic ejaculation system in his Human Body V1.0 design to eject & kill sperm once every few weeks (called a wet dream)?

Answer: Because it's not murder. It's just sperm. God knows this; why don't you?

That makes me want to use birth control more...

screaming kids... *shudder*

Anonymous said...

This is great and amusing. It reminds me of similar condom ads that advocate condom use to prevent unwanted reproduction.

Too bad some people seriously believe that using birth control 'prevents life.' Hey, so does abstinence. And wet dreams... and menstruation.

Anonymous said...

How brilliant! Use a condom, and avoid these nasty screaming little beasts!

Anonymous said...

I love it, that's hilarious!

Anonymous said...

I'm a parent and this doesn't bother me at all. I think it's funny.
I guess I'm helping to snuff out life by using the patch and condoms!

Anonymous said...

What an awesomely sharp, witty, inventive and creative concept for a condom ad campaign! Whether you like the concept or not, you have to agree that it gets the point across in an intelligent, playful way. I don't care what anyone else says, I think it's absolutely brilliant!

Anonymous said...

Yeah, it really shows the decline of the modern conscience. With such moral decay as people who'd rather kill abortion doctors and keep gay men from adopting children, because it's so much more moral to have children in orphanages, and abusive foster families that are only doing it for the money.

Anonymous said...

I'm enjoying my condom-protected, anti-procreative premarital sex. These ads are kind of funny, but obviously they'd be fuel for people who want their morals pushed on everyone else.

Hey anti-condom people--if we can't use condoms, can we still get abortions?

"lustful fun, wallowing like pigs in our own selfishness"

Wow, someone's way hung-up about sex. Go ahead and dismiss something good and enjoyable (when it's properly protected) as animalistic and disgusting.

Condoms, safe sex, and contraception are a necessity. End of story.

Anonymous said...

God forbid someone actively take initiative to see that an unwanted pregnancy doesn't occur!

You people complain about abortion, but then you knock on people pro-actively preventing it. What sense does that make?

Pro-Life does not mean "ZOMG! YOU MUST BREED!" it just means you're pro-fetal life. (be honest now, once the baby is born, you don't care what happens to it)

Now, children, have some intelligence about this issue. It's a COMMERCIAL probably cooked up by the Religious Right. Breathe. You eat eggs, don't you?

exipolar said...

Inaccurate but cool. Though I wonder why no one mentions the fact that women lose gametes when they menstruate, or are women not supposed to menstruate from constantly having kids?

and I feel rather offended that men get all the accountability when it comes to reproduction, my sperm is my sperm, and on it's own it cannot become anything even close to life, at best they are millions of limited protein combinators.

I love the looks of horror, even though sperm doesn't has the equipment to feel anything

Anonymous said...

I like to bang.
I don't like screaming kids.
I like to laugh. This add is funny.
Don't worry, those kids made some $$$ at the expense of you guys getting your vagina hurt over someones sick sense of humor.
Try focusing your attention on things that matter, like the overpopulation of america as it reaches 300 million, starving babies and the fact that GW Bush is raping america with no lube and no condom.

Anonymous said...

I love it! Maybe if they weren't all screaming their heads off, I might feel bad... but as is? Pass the condoms!

Great work.

Anonymous said...

Those are pretty funny :D

Anonymous said...

This add makes it blatently obvious that in using birth control, we are snuffing out life.

Dumbass. Condoms do NOT snuff out life - they prevent the sperm from every fertilizing the egg, preventing conception, and thus preventing life.

Not everyone wants one of those screaming brats - isn't it more responsible to use condoms/birth control to prevent unwanted pregnancies than just aborting every "accident"?

People like YOU disgust me.

Anonymous said...

I haven't laughed this hard since I heard Kenneth Lay was dead. Awesome, my man!

Anonymous said...

LMFAO. Its funny how everyone is "ohh, you lustful sinners, how pitiful man has become, those poor children." I swear, all you have to do is post a picture of a child looking remotely sad and sin/lustfullness/THE EVIL OF MODERN MAN is brought into it.

Every parent who sees this add should be discusted and never use birth control again.

YES, PLEASE, lets all do what YOU think is right. Kinda like Hitler.

I, however, find the ad humorous, WHICH is probably what was intended.

SPERM is DNA folks. And, hey, I'm a Christian.

Remember that all good things come from God, and, above all else, I'm childfree, and loving life.

Have a nice day.

Anonymous said...

This is completely insane. Sperm are not children.

That's hilarious. I hope the above comments are satire. Excuse me, I need to go count my disposable income. Left over of course from my birth control buys.

Oh, goodness- "WE SHULD NAVAR USE CONDUMS THEY R KYLLIN DA CHYLDRUNNNNN!"

"These ads make me so mad, I could... I could just have an unwanted child out of spite! THAT WILL SHOW THEM!"

I think those ads are great. Condoms are my friend. <3

Anonymous said...

If condoms keep screeching hellspawn like THAT out of my life, I'd consider that a GREAT commercial.

Anonymous said...

I <3 my birth control.

BTW, anonymous poster #1, "the look of horror" on those kids faces is the same look most kids have whilst throwing a huge tantrum. A true horror indeed. :-)

Anonymous said...

Many people who procreate have romantic notions of what child-rearing is actually like, and these ads will hopefully make them think about the commitment they're making by bringing a new life into the world. This is especially true in this day and age, where siring a child of your own is inherently a selfish act; given the number of healthy children that are available for adoption, and the also incredibly large number of children who starve to death all over the world, there is no good reason for a couple to make yet another mouth to feed. Am I glad my parents had children? You bet I am. But if they hadn't then I wouldn't exist, so there would be no one to feel bad about it. With that illogical appeal to emotion out of the way, all that's left is the selfish desire to pass on one's genes, or to have children that are "yours" (when they belong to no one but themselves) or look/act like you do. If you're having children you're either ignorant, selfish, or both. If you love children so much, go adopt one.

As for the horrors of birth control, that wonderful invention has kept the human race alive by limiting the number of humans there would otherwise be. The hard truth is that we do not live in a world of unlimited resources, and the more people there are the more likely we will end up fighting for survival. A truly intelligent populace would push for not only zero population growth, but an overall population reduction; not only would we be leaving less of an ecological footprint, we'd also have more resources per person, making a higher quality of life possible for all the people on the planet. Again, if you really care about kids, stop having more and start taking care of the ones that are already here.

Anonymous said...

Sperm are not human babies.
Ova are not human babies.
Fetuses are not human babies.

Some people do not want to have children. It is possible to define your life in other ways than popping out babies.

Deal with it.

Anonymous said...

You people commenting here are completely insane. How can anyone be offended by egg'n'sperm NOT meeting? Is menstruation and masturbation a sin? Do you just dig unwanted kids and chronic overpopulation? Heaven forbid people have safe sex and ENJOY it, right? Good grief.

And to Arvind; your movie is great! too bad to many people have a Bible shaped stick up their ass, all the way into where their sense of logic and humor should have been.

Anonymous said...

Pfft. Sure, it's horrifying if one thinks that a singular gamete with only half the set of chromosomes needed to make a whole person equals a fluffyhaired human child. Ohnos! Wet dreams in males kill children!

Anonymous said...

So, you people that are against birth control...Do you want to take care of a child that I would concieve and not want?? I sure as hell dont want it..Would you raise it?...More than likely not. I seriously dont think that those of you who so against birth control are out there adopting unwanted kids left and right because they are "so precious". There are too many unwanted kids in this world as it is. If more people used condoms that problem wouldn't be so prevelent.

Anonymous said...

I should say that this portrayal of condoms IS disgusting. BUT it's because of the idea that preventing conception equals killing a living kid. That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. What is also stupid is the idea that a condom is a contraceptive. NO. It's supposed to be a preventive measure against diseases, not pregnancy. Therefore, the above commentors have no idea what they are talking about. Get it RIGHT, okay?

Oh, another thing. Screw you to those who insist that birth control equals killing a live child. We are NOT selfish if we are married and are having fun. How dare you call us pigs! Have you even read the bible? Marriage was made for us as a way to control our desires. It encourages us to enjoy each other as a bond of being one in body and spirit. Don't insult the sanctity of Marriage!

Anonymous said...

Um... considering that I've seen children do this very thing - voluntarily - with balloons and silk scarves, I think you people might be over-reacting just a tad.

I look at the pictures and imagine the photographer instructing the kids to "push up against this sheet of rubber and scream REAL loud, okay?"

I'm probably going to be labeled a horrid person for this but I find the ads hilarious.

And I have a 6 month old son, and enjoy my horrid lusty sexcapades with my boyfriend.

Oh - the horror.

I'd rather use BC than have 9 million sproglets. I'm rather content with just my one for now. Wouldn't you rather people choose whether or not to have children, rather than fall into having a child and then neglect it?

Anonymous said...

I think some people are taking this the wrong way. I don't think the condom walls are so much snuffing out the kids as they are acting like a wall between the screaming kid and you. Like, to prevent having screaming kids in your life, use a condom. They aren't killing the kids in the ad. The condom is just acting as a protective barrier.

Yay, condoms!

Proposal. Condoms enable people to have sex without having to worry about becoming pregnant.

Proposal II. Because the worry of becoming pregnant is drastically reduced, more and more people can have sex without much fear of having children come into the world. This includes high school students, married people with illicit lovers, unmarried people, etc. Without the resultant children, who will even know it happened?

Proposal III. Condoms have a failure rate. A known fact. Let's say 1%. I don't know if that's a true number, but let's just go with it for now.

Now lets say 10,000 people unmarried, or married and cheating, or high school students in the back of a car had sex last night, relying on condoms to prevent pregnancies. 10000 x 1% = 100.
That means that last night 100 UNWANTED NEW LIVES, with 46 chromosomes, and that will have a beating heart in just 18 days have come into being.

You want to say that contraception doesn't cause abortion? I'm not buying it. You want to talk about choice? We engage in the act that is so obviosly intended for creation. We do everything from soup to nuts, condoms to pills to try to kill that action, and then when all of our efforts fail, and conception occurs, you cry that we need freedom of choice. How many bad choices have you already made? Now a new living being is involved, and you prefer to take it on on him/her.

People are not animals. They can say no to sex. They can be more than their urges. This may sound impossible. If it does, ask yourself, what are your gods? Is sex the almighty, ever driving force in your life? If you don't think so, just try to abstain for a while. A week, a month. This should be as easy as pie, but I bet it's not. Why not? I'll let you answer that one.

Not all kids are monsters. But those of you who don't want them would likely make crappy parents and end up raising little monsters anyway. So yeah, slip one of these on, please. Unwanted children - my baby's daddy - welfare - social state.

The ad is fairly taseless, but keep in mind the targeted demo: dudes who think they're swordsmen and want all the action without consequence.

And this is proof that Cannes is full of shite.

Contraception? Not a bad idea. Kids as demons? Pretty lame.

eulogos said...

It isn't logical and of course it isn't true that sperm = babies.
We all know this. Nevertheless, the child trying to get out does represent how so many people cheat themselves out of having children in order to have things or self indulgent freedom, and how sad this is.

It is particularly sad to me that not only young men, but young women here are calling children "screaming brats." They are denying part of the true meaning of being a woman, cutting out part of who they are in exchange for futile and empty lives, what will in the end taste like dust and ashes in their mouths. This applies to the young men who don't want to be fathers of families and support and nurture the next generation.

Those of us who are against contraception believe that sexual intercourse should be within the committed lifelong union of one man and one woman, and should always be open to the transmission of life. For very serious reasons pregnancies can be avoided by having sex only at times the woman is known to be infertile. We think the two purposes of sex,the unitive, the binding together of a man and a woman into one, and the procreative, were always meant to go together.

We completely reject any idea that it is moral or licit or acceptable to have sex with someone to whom you are not committed in marriage.
This is what Christianity has taught since its earliest days, and what Judaism also taught. Genuine Christianity continues to teach this. It also teaches that we are creatures of God, made for higher ends than transient pleasures, that we realize our true selves in giving to others and in self sacrifice, and that true happiness consists in knowing the truth, following what is right, denying ourselves, and serving others.

This leads to joy, whereas "banging" as someone above called it, leads only to transitory pleasure...and to less and less of that as one goes on, and to despair and deadness of spirit.

Susan Peterson

I sincerely hope the blog author won't censor this comment because he or she disagrees with it. It isn't scurrilous nor an offensive comment regarding a particular person. It expresses accurately the teaching of one of the great world religions, which all are free to disagree with but shouldn't refuse to hear, or at least shouldn't refuse to allow to be printed.

Anonymous said...

I think the reason why these ads are offensive has nothing to do with contracepton, the debate about abortion, or any right to life issue.

It's that the kids depicted, while crying and clearly misbehaving, are still pretty lovable and adorable. And that's a confusing message to be sending when what you really want to say is "don't get pregrant".

My guess is that the people who appreciate these ads are people that will always and forever use birth control.

Anonymous said...

since most consumers of this brand see themselves as conquering swordsmen i don't think the communication is misdirected. What might be damaging though is the reactions of the spillover audience. The ones for whom the ad isn't meant. It's just bad karma for the brand at the community level and not every brand can channel that for profits. So if it doesn't pay, why do it?

And if i were to take this further, at some level I think the men (at least some men) will also be conscious about how a woman might react to them if they associated him with the brand that did this advertising. I mean, if everything is a sign then this condom brand doesn't particularly indicate that I'm a guy overflowing with the milk of human kindness; which might seriously hurt my chances somewhere down the line.

On the other hand, the women these swordsmen bed might find it deliciously naughty and even subversively sexy to associate the man - and what they end up doing together - with that imagery. It'll probably get him laid every day of the week and twice on sundays for all you know.

Everytime i start thinking like this i get this feeling that it's only us who take advertising so seriously. Maybe the guys will buy it and the women won't give a damn as long as he puts the damn thing on right and it doesn't give in the middle of the play.

personally, i think it like a bad insurance ad. those ghastly ones that go the "Now you know what we mean" route.

Anonymous said...

fortunately everybody else already reasoned why these stupid people with theit stupid religions and cults are so insanely stupid that all i have to say is that you people are so insanely stupid with your insanely stupid religions and cults. get a goddamn life. if you can't enjoy safe sex then at least don't come telling other people it's wrong.

As a registered nurse, I can tell you that even the condom companies only suggest a 75% effective rate, so that means you only have a 3 in 4 chance of it working. Also, the HIV virus is 1/10th the size of the perferations in a condom, so who are you fooling about "safe sex"?

Anonymous said...

I could teach all you heathans a thing or two, but seeing as how other good people have tried and are ignored by you uneducated brutes, I won't go much further. You do not understand what the snactity of life means; all your lives could have been snuffed out by the use of contraceptives as well. But of course, you fail to see that. You challenge us to adopt children? Then set the example and adopt one yourselves. You want us to feed the hungry children in Africa or Latin America? Please feel free to start showing us social conservatives the way; it's about time you all did something moral with your lives instead of wallowing in selfish acts of pleasure that shuts off the possibility of creating life, which is a blessing beyond belief. I will pray for your miserable souls.
