Heard that this campaign was rejected by the client. I don't see anything controversial in this campaign. If you think deeper there's a social message hidden in it. Do you agree?

Probably the client thought that it doesn't go with the brand identity.

may be they didnt like that, a particular race being depicted in the first two pics and the more sensitive issue (ie the last pic) for an AD, it may even bring a -ve impact rite ?

Arvind, have you ever come across such unexpected -ve impacts on Ads ?, it would be a quite important and interesting study i guess :-)

Hey...i will try to post that kinda ads...also keep sending me such ads if you get anything :)

These ads are completely wrong to use for white out. You're using this shit on typos not on history and violence. These ads should be be used by peace organizations and not BIC! They ARE good, but not for BIC. Good thing they got rejected before any further embarassement.

Hello Mr. Anonymous!
I agree with your point saying that the product is used on typos. But a creative can't jus be A for Apple. It has to travel further for a visual appeal. Anyways, who said BIC shouldn't do these kinda ads and who insists only peace organizations should do this kinda ads. I think this ad is brilliant in terms of idea! btw...post your comments by logging in. Gud luck!

the ad's pretty tasteless. Clever. But seriously tasteless.
Product is just a stupid bottle of white out. As if they could undo the past or even help.

I've been at Ground Zero myself. It just reminds me how offensive using a tragic event for the needs of SELF PROMOTION. Like street sellers who sell trinkets about WTC at ground zero. It's a tasteless and complete disregard to the lives lost there.

a poroblem here, among others, is that it's a Beneton rip-off. and being a ripp-off it's cheap. being cheap it degrades these historical events, it gives the feeling that those lives are cheaper then this tipex thingie being sold. beneton at least had a good context 4 it - (i.e united colors)
i agree with anonymous.
it's wat too pretentious for the product's own good. it promotes primarily negative feelings.

Notice the outrage specificaly pointed at the twin towers? What about the other images? There were other atrocities before 9/11.

I agree that its a great idea but maybe the images should have been about more family frendly events.

Borrowed interest. This time borrowing a lot of powerful interest for a completely insignificant product. Doesn't work except as a parlor game. Advertising 101.

It's a wonderful ad. It's deep. It's emotional. It's almost as if the god were channeling a message of utter urgency. These ads are a higher catagory of imagery and impact usaully scene on the walls of galleries. But to make such imapactful imagery publicly available is a wonderful and its a hell of a better idea than showing white out on a computer screen. Who uses white these days anyway?

i think 2 reasons for reject:

1) the scene connects unhappy mood to the product.

2) to white out history means telling lies & denying the truth, evil act.

Well. The ads is spec's from a junior team of TBWA Brazil and they weren´t meant to get outside the agency walls. And BIC and TBWA NYC got hickups and did send a cease and desist on the pictures to Adland (ad-rag.com) who was the blog the specs was sent to.

basically i feel that it's tasteless...

but the message did got to me

"BIC will save your day."

but.... it isn't an ad with EQ.

At all don't like for many reasons.

You guys should do some research on the second image.
Hints:
a) It won a pulizer
b) The guy got shot in the head the next second that the picture was taken.
